Thoughts on Forgiveness:

"If you haven't forgiven yourself something, how can you forgive others?" Dolores Heurta

Forgiving yourself for all your past "weight transgressions" is an integral part of moving forward and achieving success with your weight.

Note that forgiving yourself is NOT the same as giving up, or going on a binge.

So no matter how many times you've failed at getting the weight off, or eaten the wrong thing, or skipped your workout, forgive yourself immediately. And then get back on track, which will be much easier without the weight of guilt on your shoulders.

Winter. Why?

Not sure where in the world you are reading this, but as I write, I am sitting in Toronto, Canada, a part of the world where winter takes hold, and like a dog with a bone, won’t let go. And we are firmly in the middle of a long, cold winter. It’s many weeks till the groundhog checks his shadow and we can even start to think about spring.

I am not a lover of winter. It is my least favourite season. But even I can appreciate the beauty of winter the day after a snowstorm. In fact, in many ways, the city is never prettier than it is with a fresh blanket of snow. The snow can cover up a lot of sins! LOL

Because we got a dog a while back, I am finding myself outside more this winter than ever going for walks or over to our local dog park. And I have to admit, it is a lot of fun watching our dog Tater frolic in the snow, she just loves it. It actually makes me laugh out loud when she buries her face in the snow and then pops-up out of it, with white stuff all over her head, eyes wide and sparkling! She always finishes this with a big sigh and and a satisfied “hrumph” and then lops forward to find the next snow bank to explore. I have to admit that I am enjoying the snow this year, as seen through my puppy’s eyes.

But I do have to wonder why we have winter? Or better yet, why my ancestors chose this part of the world to land in. They must have arrived in the summer, there’s no way they would have picked here to settle if they knew what they were in for in December, January, February and March! Often I find I spend more time getting dressed to go outside in the winter than the time I actually spend outside! By the time I’ve put on long underwear, extra socks, pants, a sweater or two, my coat, my boots, my gloves, my scarf and even a hat, I ready to sit down again! And then I have to get the coat on the dog, which is a whole other story! LOL

Summer is so much easier. Shorts, a t-shirt and a pair of flip-flops are all that’s necessary. I can’t wait for summer, bring it on. Life seems so much simpler in the summer. Ok, that’s the romance of summer. I am obviously so frozen now that I’ve forgotten about the sunscreen, the bugs, the extreme heat, the smog and the humidity associated with summer in this part of the world. You know what, I bet my ancestors arrived in spring or fall, there’s no way they would have stayed here if they’d arrived in July or August either!

Bring on spring, I’m ready!
