I am wrapping up day two of the sugar cleanse. I was feeling really good until this afternoon when I got a headache, and I am one of those lucky people who rarely get headaches. I wonder if this is a side effect from ditching sugar? It may also be that I used to drink half a pot or more of coffee each day. Now, because I am detoxing from sugar and dairy, I can only take my coffee black and that just doesn't sit well with my taste buds. I've been drinking black tea as a substitude, but I don't really enjoy it. Does anyone have advice for me?

Headaches are a common symptom in both caffeine and sugar withdrawl. How about green tea for the caffeine? (and a host of health benefits as well.) Also, drink lots of water. Dehydration is actually the most common cause of headaches. Add some lemon to the water to give it a fresh taste. And if none of that takes away the headache, keep on the sugar cleanse anyway, because you will ride this out. And when the cleanse is over, your body will have re-calibrated its sugar handling system, and you'll find you'll need a lot less sugar to get the same kick, meaning you can save tons of calories because you'll find too much sugar to be unpalatable.
