Share what you have discovered triggers you to eat. It just might help others to discover their own triggers.

Garlicky-tomato tastes, like Italian food, trigger me so that I have to have chocolate afterwards!

And any new situation that I think of as stressful triggers me to eat. I guess my brain figures that if I spend my time eating, I'll avoid the potentially scary situation I am about to put myself into!

Oh the power of suggestion! On a really hot day recently, I was giving a talk about Why Are You Weighting and the concepts, and someone mentioned Dairy Queen. I haven't been to a DQ in years, nor even thought about it at all, but I have to say on such a hot day a DQ cone did sound tempting. Well wouldn't you know that on my way home from this talk I ended up taking a wrong turn and ended up taking a different route than I had planned. It's amazing how the subconscious works, because the next thing I know, there is a DQ right in front of me. I swear I didn't plan on passing by one, yet there it was right in front of me. And yes, I did go in and get a small cone, which I enjoyed immensely! (DQ is ice milk rather than ice cream, so lots less fat and calories. A small cone is a nice treat and nothing to feel guilty about...assuming you only have one, once in a while! LOL)

I just realized that I really want to eat whenever one of my kids has a tantrum. I find dealing with an out-of-control kid very difficult, and I guess I want food to soothe myself. Now that I know this is triggering me to dive into the fridge, I'll have to work on finding a better way to deal with the situation.
